Typically, alkyd resins are used to form carboxylic acid and multi-agent alcohols. Oil or fatty acids are always added to these compounds to improve the structure. By choosing the appropriate type and amount of oil or fatty acid in the manufacture of alkyd resin, a wide variety can be attributed to its properties. The group of resins based on its oily content divided into three categories: short oil (less than 40%), medium oil (40% Up to 60%) and high oil (60% to 70%). High alcid color of oil is used according to the type of oil, as a constructional color or anticorrosive paint. Alkyd medium, an oil that combines several oils in their construction, is used in industrial, mechanical coatings, heavy duty repair coatings. Short oil alkyd paints are used in combination with other resins to make furnace paints (for use on radiators, bikes, steel parts) and car paint.
